Cheers.
I hope we listen to somebody with thoughts about more than two possible reasons for the disparities. These zombies are falling for a false dichotomy fallacy.
Trichotomy?
Is this a false dichotomy, though? Theoretical exercises aside, I’m curious to know what the other reasons might be. Broadly speaking, mind. Are all reanimated corpses zombies? I dig how their clothes have managed to survive decomp and their reasoning powers have remained largely intact despite their brains being gone. That’s pretty cool.
I’ve been trying to imagine a third option and all I can come up with is bad luck.
Reading this has been the most important ten minutes of my week.
Glad it was worthwhile.
Mind if I share this with my students? I think this piece presents our problems much more clearly than any of the news or academic readings I have assigned.
Absolutey, Sheena. If you think it’s helpful, share it however you like.
I really really liked!!!
I like to turn arguments around or applying them elsewhere. Obviously, turning #1 around would be hubris. But I also hear – a lot lately – how the uber-successful only got there by chance. Hundreds of millions of other people would have done the same things and been in your position now…if they had just been in the right place at the right time. That’s a powerful thought no matter who is the subject.
